The social media craze of "Sheetz come to ___ (insert any given city name)" started in the late 2010s. In 2019, plans began to be made by the family owned company to expand into the Ohio market and by 2020, it was announced that "Sheetz Is Coming." Franklin County, Ohio was the market for the expansion with a promise of 12 locations by 2022 and 50 locations by 2025. As of this date 105 locations are scattered throughout Ohio with 33 located within Central Ohio.
In Lancaster any moment that dirt was moved, a business closed, new construction started or someone asked on one of the local group pages "what's being built ___ (any given location)" someone would give the answer "Sheetz." I for one am a Sheetz Freak and visit one of the 3 locations within about 20 minutes of my home as often as I can. In early 2023 I looked for any clue of a location opening in Lancaster as rumors continued to fly and my wish for a closer location to open. I had received confirmation that the company had requested a liquor license for a location at Pierce Ave and Memorial Drive. Though it wasn't confirmed that Sheetz was officially coming. Toward the end of 2023, businesses located on the plot of land at the intersection of Pierce and Memorial began to close or relocate. By mid January of this year, the former Howard Hanna Realty (former Ponderosa), Jimmy Johns/Marcos and the former Discount Furniture & Mattress buildings were razed. Speculation continued until it was confirmed by the Lancaster Eagle Gazette that Sheetz was in fact coming to Lancaster.
A few locals responded with "just another gas station, do we really need another one?" I'm here to tell you that it's more than a gas station...here's what you need to know.

1. Sheetz Origins and Family Legacy:
Sheetz, an American and Family Owned Business, traces its roots back to 1952 when Bob Sheetz opened the first location in Altoona, PA. Since then, the Sheetz family has remained integral to the business, with members actively involved in the executive staff.

2. Innovative Dining Experience:
Pioneering the concept of "Made to Order" (MTO) in 1986, Sheetz revolutionized the dining experience. Today, customers can enjoy a diverse menu of customizable items, from flatbread pizzas to lattes, from burgers to salads, either through the Sheetz App, in-store, or via the drive-thru, offering endless culinary possibilities.

3. Fueling Convenience and Choice: Sheetz provides an extensive selection of fuels to cater to diverse vehicle needs. Upon arriving at the pump, you'll find the standard options of unleaded, midgrade, and premium gasoline. In addition, Sheetz offers an E15 option, also known as Unleaded 88, which is typically priced a few cents lower than other choices and is suitable for vehicles from 2014 onwards. For flex fuel vehicles, there's the E85 option, alongside diesel for those requiring it.
4. Digital Convenience with Sheetz App and Rewardz: The Sheetz app is essential for maximizing convenience! Not only can you effortlessly order your favorite meals, but it also serves as a versatile tool for in-store payments, Sheetz gift card usage, and access to exclusive offers such as discounts on food and store items. Moreover, the app integrates seamlessly with the Sheetz Rewardz program. Upon signing up, you'll enjoy a limited-time discount on gas, followed by ongoing savings of 3 cents per gallon. Additionally, for every $1.00 spent in-store (excluding fuel purchases), you'll earn 5 points. These points can then be redeemed for various rewards, including discounts on fuel, free items from the Made to Order menu, and products from the convenience store.
5. Convenience Beyond Expectations: Sheetz's convenience store is a treasure trove of delights! From their signature branded snacks like whoopie pies to an array of cheeses, fruits, nuts, donuts, packaged chips, and candies, there's something to satisfy every craving. And before you leave, don't miss out on their fresh coffee, teas, sodas, and slushies. Beer and wine enthusiasts will find their favorites conveniently chilled in the walk-in cooler. Need a charger? Sheetz has got you covered. With endless options to explore, be sure to take your time and explore all that the convenience store has to offer.

Sheetz is slated to open in Lancaster, Ohio sometime mid-July 2024. Stay tuned for more information on opening and coverage from opening day.
