Bojangles

The bold, Southern flavors of Bojangles may soon be coming to Lancaster!

Founded in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1977, Bojangles has built a loyal following throughout the Southeastern United States and continues to expand nationwide. In Ohio, franchisee Jeff Rigsby began opening Bojangles locations in 2023, starting in Canton and Hilliard, bringing the brand’s signature flavors to new audiences across the state.

Bojangles is best known for its flavorful fried chicken, made-from-scratch buttermilk biscuits, and classic Southern sides. Fan favorites include freshly brewed iced tea, dirty rice, coleslaw, and creamy mac & cheese. The chain prides itself on using fresh, never-frozen chicken that’s marinated for 12 hours, along with a strong commitment to “made-from-scratch” preparation—highlighted by a dedicated biscuit maker in every restaurant.

While Ohio locations do not offer the full Bojangles menu found in many Southern states—which includes additional Southern-style fried chicken options and expanded fixings—the quick-service restaurants still deliver many fan favorites. The menu features a popular breakfast lineup highlighted by specialty biscuits and Bo-Tato Rounds, along with a selection of salads, desserts, and convenient family meals.

According to plans submitted for approval to the zoning board, Bojangles is proposing a new location at 1736 N. Memorial Drive, the former site of In The Ball Park card shop, situated between Sheetz and Burger King. Access to the restaurant would be available from the traffic light at Pierce Avenue and North Memorial Drive. The proposed location would include both patio seating and a drive-thru.

While the plans have not yet received final approval, they are expected to move forward without issue in the coming weeks. At this time, there is no official timeline for when construction would begin or when a grand opening might take place. The existing building on the property would need to be demolished before development could begin.
